Our Story
At Piccolina, our journey is all about a true passion for good food. As a husband and wife team, Nathan and Elana are excited to bring the authentic flavors of New York Italian cuisine to Asheville. With Nathan as our devoted chef and Elana overseeing the front of house and creating delicious pastries, every dish is made from scratch and with uncompromising attention to detail. We aim to serve classic meals, ensuring you leave feeling satisfied and nourished after each visit.
Authentic Italian Flavors
At the heart of our menu lies a deep respect for authentic Italian cooking—both from the old-world streets of Italy and the spirited kitchens of New York’s Italian-American communities. Our flavors are rooted in tradition, shaped by experience, and served with pride.
We bring the bold, comforting tastes of New York Italian cuisine to life: think rich marinara simmered for hours, hand-tossed dough with just the right chew, garlic that sings in every bite, and a perfect balance of herbs and spice. It's a flavor profile born from generations of Italian immigrants who added a touch of American bravado to timeless recipes. But our story doesn’t stop there.
We’ve walked the markets of Florence, where fresh ingredients are king and simplicity reigns. From silky handmade pastas dressed with olive oil and sage, to rustic Tuscan ragùs slow-cooked with Chianti wine, the flavors of Florence are both elegant and earthy.
In Bologna, we discovered a love for deep, savory richness—where mortadella, Parmigiano Reggiano, and the legendary ragù alla Bolognese showcase the region’s passion for depth and detail. Every bite carries a story, and every recipe reflects centuries of culinary devotion.
We don’t just serve Italian food—we serve the flavors we’ve lived. From the energy of New York’s Little Italy to the soul of central Italy, our kitchen is a celebration of boldness, balance, and authenticity.
